The info below in the third paragraph may be wrong, I have just found the following notes....
Electoral rolls:
1936/37 to 1944 22 Wellington St, York: Harold Bulmer, and Lilian May Bulmer
1946 to 1946 22 Wellington St, York, Harold Bulmer, Lillian May Bulmer, and William Woods.
1953 22 Wellington St, York, Harold Bulmer, and Lillian May Bulmer.
1957 to 1958 53 Rawdon Ave, York, Harold and Lillian May Bulmer
1959 to 1960 53 Rawdon Ave, York, Harold and Lillian May Bulmer, and Roy Bulmer
1961 to 1964 53 Rawdon Ave, York, Harold And Lillian May Bulmer, and Roy Bulmer, and Bryan Bulmer.
1968, No Bulmers living at 53 Rawdon Ave, York.
It would appear then that Roy and Bryan are sons of Harold and Lillian May Bulmer. Assuming the age of voting ws 21 years, this would suggeest birthdates of 1938 for Roy, and 1940 for Bryan.
I have a death date for Roy Bulmer, husband of Jo Bulmer, of Pulleyn Drive, York, died 20 Apr 1985 aged 50 years, Yorkshire, Evening Press, 22 Apr 1985 page 2. This matches fairly well.Harold was given the Freedom of the City of York on the 4 Feb 1932.
He was living at 10 Rosary Terrace, York and was a Plumber by Trade.
!There is a lot of uncertainty in my mind as to When Harold was born and died. For there are two Harold Bulmers who were born and who died in York:1) Harold whose details are already on view.
2) Harold who was born in 1909 and died 23 jun 1975 aged 66 yrs. I have a note that says that his father was Andrew Bulmer, but that does not match with the Christenings which I found with his brothers and sisters. Perhaps I have written it down wrongly, or the obituaries have been muddled up, either way I need the marriage of Harold to Lilian to help sort it out. From the Electoral Registers:
1945-1947 at 2, Welton Ave, York: Harold Bulmer, and Violet Bulmer
1949 Harold Bulmer, Joyce Irene Bulmer
1953 Harold Bulmer, Joyce Irene Clarke, Harold Clarke
1961 at 61 Amsford Drive, York, Harold Bulmer.
now if Violet was his wife, she may have been a second wife. but a Violet Bulmer, wife of Harold died 6 Feb 1961, aged 61 years, of 61, Amsford Drive, York.
It appears that Harold had a daughter called Joyce Irence Bulmer, who married a Harold Clarke, yet when I had a telephone conversation with Bernard R Millen, about his wifes family, there was no mention of his wife having a sister called Joyce Irene. Note though, that Bernard's wife had just had a stroke, and could not remember well
There is some confusion with Lilian's name. In her Obituary she is named as Lilian May Bulmer. I am not sure if the May is a middle name, or her Maiden name. If the latter, there is a possibility that she is the sister of Dave May's Grandfather, Albert Allan May, but there is uncertainty there too. I need to find the Marriage of harold and Lilian to tell me more.
20 Dec 2002: I do not think that Gerald is the only child, but I have no proof of this. Also, the marriage date of his parents is a complete guess, and could well be wrong. I have based it on only finding one child so far.
Edward was given the Freedom of the City of York on the 14 May 1923
He lived at 10 Russell St, York and was a School master.
!A Granddaughter of Edward also has received the Freedom of the City of York:
Susan Rosalind Bulmer Howartson received it on the 3 Jun 1983. She was living
at 29 Braemar Cresecnt, Bearsden, Glasgow, Scotland. She was a Pathologist at
the time. Because of the similarity of her occupation, ie that it is in a
similar field of study as Gerald Bulmer (Chemist), she may be the daughter of
Gerald Bulmer, Though I have yet to find this out. 30 Dec 1995From an email from Jenette Taylor received 18 Nov 2002:
Hello Brian,
I have been going through papers and trying to sort out the BULMER information. I had stored it away as I haven't found anyone researching BULMER or BICKERDIKE connections in same areas as me. I have found one piece which I am going to type from a letter which my late father -in-law Stanley received from Edward and Alice BULMER. I don't know what year it was because the top of the letter is missing. I can only presume it is about 1973, because Edward was born in 1893.
From letter sent by Edward and Alice.
We are keeping very nicely for two eighty year olds. Alice was 80 on Christmas Day and of Dec 30 we had our 57th Wedding Anniversary when Gerald and Greta were here and took us to Bishopthorpe Church for their family Commumion Service at 10.15 am. We were married on a Saturday and the next morning we went to St Paul's Church[where we were married] to the 8 am Communion Service. We have gone there several times on the Anniversary but we are getting too old for 8am services.
Death date : Yorkshire Evening Press 7 Oct 1977 Page 2.
Many thanks for your recant e mail. I think I can help you with a bit of further information my Grandfather Stanley Bulmer Born 1897 died 1958 did not work for the railways he was clerk at the York firm of Solicitors Mumby & Scott. he then moved to Shipton by Bennigbrough were he ran the Post Office and village shop until he retired. He was son of Joseph Born 1867 died 1936 & Charlotte Bickerdike Born 1867 died 1933 They had two other children Edward born 1893 and Joseph born 1900.
I have quite a collection of Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates I have attached a couple that may be of interest to your contact Jennette in Australia. First is the Baptism Certificate Of George Bickerdike father of Charlotte & Hannah dated 17th April 1831 This confirms that his parents were John & Ellen. The copy is dated Sept 14th 1908 for some reason. Also there is a copy of Charlotte & Joseph's marriage certificate which shows that George was a witness. And a copy of Charlottes Death certificate.
We also have a rather bizarre thing a photograph of a Grave stone in Bishopthorpe Church I have scanned a copy of this but as it may not travel to well below is the inscription.
In loving Memory of George Bickerdike Died June 5th 1920 Age 89, Also of Charlotte Bulmer Daughter of the above Died Jan 3rd 1933 Aged 65 Years. Also of Joseph Bulmer Beloved Husband Of the above Died April 10th 1936 Aged 69. "Love in Heaven will shine more bright"
Hope this is of interest to and Jennette.
Richard
PS I have reduced all the attachments in size so that they do not take an age to download, if this has made them unclear and you would like full size copies leme know I will re-send them.

She became a member of the Salem Chapel Congregationalist church on the 6th October 1898. She was member number 938, and lived at 24 Bishopgate, York, at the time. The notes also say that she was married, but the name of the husband had never been entered. Instead it said 'married name wanted.'
Her name was given as Adela Bulmer. No Parentage was given, indeed it never was given in the records of Salem chapel if an adult had joined. From the 1881 Census:
