CHARITIES. - The poor of the parish have five rent-charges, amounting to £3 3s. per annum, left by persons of the name Davison, Croe, Wrightson, and Midgley, and two roods of land called Wet Lands, left by William Wrightson. in 1684. Timothy Place, Esq., of London, but formerly of Thirsk, left by his will, in 1810, £1,000 in the three per cent. consolidated annuities, for a weekly distribution of bread among poor parishioners who regularly attend church, and do not receive parish relief. The late W. Sinclair, amongst numerous other charities, gave, in 1869, the sum of £500 to the poor of this parish.
I can find no information at all about this Margaret except her marriage.
There is a possibility that he was born in York abt 1562. An Elizabeth W Mitchell has done his baptism and endowment for such a person and time, though I am not sure. There are certainly no other Richard's right back to 1515!
I am having difficulty finding marriages for all these william's. Not therefore quite sure how accurate this lineage might be. It is a possibility though.
3 Mar 2003 From Helen Fosbrook:
Hello Brian and Family,

Here is the transcript. Make of it what you will.

I have found lots of mistakes on the 1901 Census in general. But this is as seen on the Census Return. However, as I stated before I think John is son of Jonathan and the others are Johns children. Also think Johns age may be wrong.

!There is on FreeBMD a marriage of a George Wrightson to a Sarah Smith Jenkinson Sep quarter 1874 at Halifax. Is this the right marraige??
~19 Jun 2004 Jenny was Proxy for Sarah's baptism and confirmation :) Janet-Ann did the endowment.
1 May 2005: Gill found an image of a possible
23 Apr 2003 Though the 1881 Census says that Sarah's middle initial is J, the fact that there is a Brother in law (with repsect to her husband George Wrightson) called Henry Jenkinson living with them, suggests to me that her maiden name is Jenkninson, and hence the marriage I found on the FreeBMD site in Sep Quarter 1874 to a Sarah Smith Jenkninson must be the correct one :)
