Notes

William Butterworth-778

I have a reference to the death of a William Butterworth, though I do not know if he is this William.
!William died 30 Mar 1931, Buried 4 Apr 1931 Aged 68. He was a Painter and lived at 30 Wrays Rd, Lower Wesley Place, York. Born 1863.
!Burial No. 96021, Grave No. 5068B

I also have a reference to a Rose Butterworth:

Died 18 Apr 1932, Buried 21 Apr 1932 aged 6 Years old. she is the Daughter of a William Butterworth, who lived at 8 Garden Place, Hungate, York.
!Grave No. 96996, Burial No. 20632.

There is a reference in the Cemetery Records of York of a Rose Ann Butterworth, who died 21 jan 1949 buried 25 jan 1949 aged 73, a widow. She lived at 17 St Phiilips Grove. Informant of the death to the registrar was J. Rymer.

Also, I have the following christening:
Violet, daughter of George and Rose Ann Butterworth, Christnened 20 May 1900 at St Cuthbert's, York.
George was a Painter, and they lived at 8 John Bull Yard, Layerthorpe, York.

Oswald George Garrett-779

Re 1901 Census: I cannot find anyone called Oswald George Garrett on teh 1901 Census born about 1899. There are two Oswald Garretts mentioned on the census, but they were born 188 and 1889 respectively. The only Garrett born in 1899 according to the Census is an Edward Garrett born in York, the son of James and Mary Garrett. Could this be the same person??

Was living at 41, Stockton Lane, Heworth, York, when he died.
In 1952, at this address, on the Electoral Roll were:

Hebert Garrett and
Muriel J Garrett.

These two were also there in 1946

In the Yorkshire Evening Press of 1 Dec 1960, there was a Public Notice of Oswald to apply for a License, to run a Betting shop.

Rose Ellen Smith-775

Was also living at 41, Stockton Lane, Heworth, York when she died.

Sophia J-11805

Ethel R Allison who appears to be 3 years older than her Brother William does not show up on this (1891) census, even though she would be about 4 years old. I am going to look for her elsewhere to see who she might have been staying with.

Martin Welch-7603

I do not know if this Martin is part of this family - 18 Dec 2005

Nicholas Welch-7605

The birth date and place are not known for certain, though it is liekly that Nicholas came over from Ireland to escape the potato famine, as many people did in the early 1850's

Thomas Parrish-10345

~A Member has submitted Thomas for Baptism and Endowment, though has put his place of birth as of the County of Lincolnshire. I have put the dates in, so that I do not re submit them, and will now look for his wife.

~Also here is an interesting entry, possibly the same Thomas, who may have been a widow when he married Ann Mooreby? It would explain his earlier birth date...
