there are 4 possible christneings that could belong to this John:
The earliest is John son of John Jenkinson Chr 2 aug 1674 at Skipton.
Next is John son of John Jenkinson and Catherine Scott at 14 Dec 1679 at Rylstone.
Thirdly there is John son of William Jenkinson Chr 6 Jul 1685 at Skipton.
Lastly, there is a John son of Thomas Jenkinson Chr 18 Jul 1686 at Rylstone.
I am not sure which one is the correct one, unless the names of Scott or Catherine crop up in the later generations. I think it is likely that his work is done though.
There is onlt one Anna Barrister born in 1690 i the whole of England! Whether she is the one I do not know, as she is from Maxstake, Warwickshire. No parents are given, just the name of a relative, Francis H Reeder.
Possible christneing: 7 Mar 1680 at clapham, Yorkshire. Son of Hugh Armistead
It might be wrong, but someone has submitted the marriage to be between James armistead, and Ann Armistead...........There is an ann Armistead born in Arncliffe, , and christened 9 Sep 1677, daughter of george Armistead. Arncliffe is 13 miles north of Gargrave. It sould be correct, but I think it would be good to look at the marriage register, to see if it does truly say that two Armistead's married each other.
Just the one child showing pu on the IGI for this couple, in the parish of Harewood.
May be there were other children born in other parishes???
From Patricia, the 2nd instalment:

Dear BrianWith luck,I may get this to you, without help from my daughter. Thanks for your info.and I did not know of move to Harewood, but IGI shows an Anthony marrying Elizabeth Buckter at Spofforth-7/10/1600. Perhaps, John <1570> had a brother, uncle, nephew, called Anthony. Borthwick data base-pre-1500, gives Squire name back to 1100, connected with religious places and feoffment. I have idled hours in plotting families from IGI, but it does not appear that your Anthony had more than one child.
I have not yet followed up WALTON line.
To continue with my info.

If Mark has not given you this info. then I will send next chapter.
Have you followed up Harewood which I believe ties with Spofforth? There may be two John Squire in Harewood but I found the following on IGI:Children of a John.
Anthony <1625>
Elizabeth c. 27/12/1625
Jane c.29/07/1627
Marie c. 23/11/1628
Bridget c.30/01/1631
Anthony c.28/07/1633
Anne c. 15/03/1635
Cicilie c. 12/05/1636
Margrett c. 29/06/1637
Thomas c. 17/02/1638
Sarah c.13/02/1640
Helen c. 20/01/1641
Isabella c. 22/01/1643I think that Harewood, Spofforth and Ilkley have connections and who is this Joseph snr. who keeps popping up at baptisms?
To date, my earliest reference for Squire name is in Nottinghamshire 1397 but I know from wills that there are connections with Hull and London. I also note that Harewood, Allerton Mauleverer and Spofforth have 'landed gentry houses' so maybe Squire folk were employed at such places.
In following my own links, I found a Rector who prayed for his descendents, so in answer to your question, I do pray for my ancestors and am likely to meet them before you. Since I retired in 1994, my lunch-breaks are flexible.
If we need to exchange by snail-mail my address is:
Mrs. Pat Squire
59, Station Road
Shirehampton
Bristol
BS11 9TU Tel. 0117 9822643When Mark moves to Swindon, we intend to meet. I guess that he is a wizard on computer matters and would despair if he saw my collection of Squire paper- unconnected- bits-of information.
Please let me know how else I can be of help.
Cheers
Pat
Brian,
I have just read your web-site info. and am in a state of shock. Would you care to spend a week in Bristol and educate 'a very old geriatric bird' in setting up her web-site? A relative in Australia had her research efforts 'poached'
Still in state of shock and in awe of what you have researched,
Pat
~Birth date is a complete guess. She may have been born later than this, which would make her a child, and not requiring baptism. Will have to try and find out if there was an age given at her burial. 7 feb 2005
