Notes

John Morrow Salmon-1838

He was a Shipwright, and is the Grand father of Robert Salmon of Catterick.

Rhoda Emily Allick-1813

Could Emily be one of her Grandmother's names??

Mary Lee-2450

THere are no Mary Lee's born in Harewood, or the surrounding area, but back in Coxwold, there is a MAry Lee christened 27 Apr 1689 daughter of William Lee. It seems odd that if this is who she is, that she got married i Harewood, unless her family had moved from Coxwold to HArewood, and Thomas had fallen for her whilst they were still there......
I have done the work for Mary and Thomas, so I will pursue this coxwold line just in case.

John Underwood-6619

A possible marriage to Susannah Watson, 9 May 1710 at Howden
Maybe some children born there before moving to Topcliffe.....
John son of John and Susannah Watson, Chr 29 Nov 1713
No, I don't think it is this family....They stayed in Howden, and did not appear to move anywhere.

Thomas Fawdington-1844

It looks like the parish has not been extractd before 1724, which would explain a great deal about why I can not find a christening for Thomas.

Possible marriages for Thomas Fawdington:
17 Jun 1718 to Elizabetha Dobson at Alne
31 dec 1731 to Mary Barker at St Peter's York.
5 Jun 1743 to Elizabeth Strickling at Alne
Was Thomas married twice? It would explain all the children born to Thomas, and is the only marriage that matches........
25 Mar 1755 to Mary Scruton at Dalby
11 Dec 1756 to Elleanor Underwood at Topcliffe by Thirsk.
If it is this one, then Eleanor must be born 1717 at Topcliffe, as there is only the one Eleanor born there. It would explain why she only had two children, as she would have been 43 when having her second child.

Elizabeth Strickling-6620

may have to look at the parish of Alne itself as it appears that the extraction has stopped in 1724.

Anne Fawdington-2396

did Anne marry one Samuel Robson of Oswaldkirk 4 Dec 1780 at Coxwold, where she was of..??
if so, the witnesses were James Kendrew, and Richard Robson.

Richard Oats-1874

Possible relative: Henry William Jackson.

John Nicholson-2005

Re John Nicholson Rin 5081: A possible marriage: to Elizabeth Farthing 24 DEc 1740 at Otteringham, which would be perfectly in time for the birth of John Nicholson in 1744 who married ann Scott and hence the passman line would ultimately be related to me.

A possible christening is 29 Mar 1744 at Kilburn, which would make him 36 when he got married.
son of John and Elizabeth Nicholson

Ann Scott-2006

She is the daughter of Francis Scott and ann Wilkinson who were married 24 Apr 1749 at THormanby.

John Nicholson-5065

A possible marriage: to Elizabeth Farthing 24 DEc 1740 at Otteringham, which would be perfectly in time for the birth of John Nicholson (Rin 2006) in 1744 who married Ann Scott and hence the passman line would ultimately be related to me.

George William Langthorne-2040

~Here is a letter fom a T A Lemin who lives at 63, Chaucer House, Chaucer Gardens, Sutton, Surrey, SM1 2QT. The letter is not dated, and there is no phone number, so I am not certain when I received this letter.

~Dear Mr Dickinson,
I hope you do not mind my writing to you, but I was interested in finding the surname Langthorne on the Familysearch site.
I see from the Pedigree chart a George William Langthorne, was he related to you?
My connection with Langthorne is on my mothers side. Her Father was Frank Langthorne, Brother of George William Langthorne.
Also I see from the Chart it goes back to 1790. Does it go back further?
On the Lemin side I have got back to 1555 in Cronwall (Should this be Cornwall??)
Thank you for your time in reading this and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours failthfully
T.A.Lemin

~Here is my response below, dated 2 Apr 2002.
Dear Mr/Mrs Lemin

~I found recently a letter from you asking about George William Langthorne, and whether he is related to me. Yes, is the answer, is my 1st Cousin 3 times removed, and the common ancestors are George Salmon and Elizabeth Nicholson who married 11Oct 1851 at Coxwold, in Yorkshire.
George married Elizabeth, the daughter of George Salmon and Elizabeth Nicholson.

~The George William Langthorne I know of was born abt 1884 in Coxwold. I do not know of any oter siblings, so any more information you could send me would be a bonus.

~I do not know how long I have had this letter, as it is not dated, and the envelope has been chucked away by my wife when it arrived. Also, I may not have even realized that it had come, as I found it in a pile o other work, so apologies if this is many months overdue.

~The line goes back to 1780 as the earliest child of Roger Langthorne, and his Wife Elizabeth, though I cannot find a marriage for this couple at the moment. Hence the birth of Roger could be around 1750 or so, though again I have not found anything from 1730 to 1770 on the IGI for a Roger Langthorne.

~If you have access to the internet, you can have a look at my website, which has more uptodate information on the family.

~Thank you for your patience
