1 Feb 2002: I have just noticed a discrepancy in my information. I have had him down as Walter for quite a few years, yet going through my original notes made back in 1995, I find the marriage I noted down, and that his first name is WILLIAM!!!!! It is not surpising then, that I have had difficulty tracing him! See the third paragraph below, and compare with the other two preceeding it!
Willam is found in the 1881 Census living at Alfred House, Husthwaite, and it states that he was 58 years old and born in Hustwaite. I cannot find any reference to his birth there, and going with his fathers name not being on his Marriage certificate, I have just thought of a possbile solution: That he was Illegitimate, and his Mother later married someone with the name of Heward. If this is the case, why did he not give his father's name on the Marriage certificate?........Still Unsure, I will have to look at the Parish of Husthwaite and see who I can find.
William was also a Labourer. His Father's name was not given on the Marriage certificate, Neither was Jane's Father, but the family connection has been determined through Census records, where this couple were visiting or living with Jane's parents I believe.
In the 1861 Census, Walter and his wife Jane were living at Alford House, Hussthwaite. THeir neice, Mary Toase was with them at the time. This has to be Mary Hannah Toase, who married Henry Cariss, as there is no other person that she couyld be.

Also John, son of James and Mary Heward, Born Dalton Nr Thirsk, Christened 8 Jul 1849, in the Parish of Topcliffe by Thirsk.
Both of the Fathers were Labourers.

To do with a Property once owned by a William Salmon of 21, Duke of York St, Middlesborough. His wife gave his house to his sister, Elizabeth Hawarth, Wife of John Hawarth. The house should not be sold nor mortgaged whilst Elizabeth Hawarth or her husband John were still alive. Once this could be done, and the expenses of the funeral etc were paid off, then the House should be sold for the best price. The money left after debts were paid to be distributed to his (William's) brother George Salmon's Children.
James Tyerman and William Underwood are the Executors of William Salmon's will. William Salmon died 11 April 1881. The will was proved 6 May 1882 at the York District Registry of the Probate Division of the High Court of Justice.
John Hawarth died on or about the 26 March 1891, and Elizabeth his wife, nee Salmon died 6 Feb 1911.
Included in this deed was a copy of the will of George Salmon also, though I did not write out a copy of it. In it it stated that George only had 6 children who attained the age of 21 Years.
The Executors are selling the Property 21, Duke of York St, to Francis Hanson for the sum of £170.
The size of the house is thus:49 feet or thereabouts from the front to the back, and 14 feet 2 inches in width. The front faces East - West and the sides, North - South. On the North side there was a Mr Henry Lawrence living, and on the South side, there was a Mrs Margaret Headler or Headley.
These two other properties on this peice of land were conveyed to a Christopher Stubbs by Henry Pease, Joseph Whitwell Pease, Edward Pease and Arthur Pease, in an indenture datedthe 6 June 1884.
There is a possibilty that William married Hannah..... but I am not sure.

From possibly a phone call I have a couple David and Anne, who have two children Caroline and Sara-Jane. But I am not sure which of David and Anne is the child of Thomas Edwin and Hilda.
His father's name was not given on the marriage certificate. I noted this down at the Borthwick Institute on the Wednesday, 14 Feb 1996.
Margaret married James Bradley of Coxwold 22 Apr 1865 at Coxwold. Both are listed as been of full age, though no Father's name is given for James. James was a Shoemaker.
According to Thomas Lemin, Henry died young, though I do not know HOW young. I will have to ascertain this.
According to the 1901 Census, there appears to be only one Henry Langthorne aged about 14 on the Census. He is not living with his parents, but he is alice, which suggests that he died after 1901. Some more proof would be good.

My maiden name was Elizabeth Ann Busfield. Last year I started searching my family tree - what a huge job!! - because as an only child of an only child, I felt oddly without extended family members. My search has astounded me that each of my great-grandparents were members of large sibships. So where all my potential relations of these descents are is quite mind-blowing, and poses lots of questions about the reasons for families not keeping in touch.
I don't know whether my Busfield ancestors are related to your's. Here is my line (still envestigating, and certificates are on the way as I write):

I found it on FreeBMD (http://freebmd.rootsweb.com) The only difference, is that I have Robert Charles Busfield, but they have Charles Robert Busfield!!!! Perhaps now I will be able to find him! Only his marriage is coming up on the freebmd site so far (5 aug 2002).
